Bamfield Field Course
I'm half-way through teaching a 3-week course in Bamfield, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This field station is owned by 5 western Canadian universities, including Simon Fraser University. My course, "Terrestrial and Freshwater Conservation" is being taken by 18 enthusiastic students from these universities. Our activities have ranged from assessments of physical and biological characteristics of streams to plant and bird identification in old-growth forests. Incredibly, we've had sunny weather every single day - which must be some sort of record for this region!
